Eidetic - Spaced Repetition App Reviews

Pretty good needs some work

I needed this app to help me concentrate and study. Its really helpful, my only problem is the organization, instead of individual notes, package them within one another to reduce clutter. Can you also add a formula section?

Eidetic, not Idiotic..!

Well, eidetic does not equate with idiotic. Yet, if you miss your answer to a question by as much as a letter or a hyphen, the answer is deemed wrong and your progress stifled. That, my friend, IS idiotic. Otherwise a useful app, trashed by its tunnel visioned algoriddim. Wrong!! Algoridm. Thumbs up for the concept though!

Abandoned

Push notifications stop after a day or two and dont resume until you re-launch app. Dev does not respond. Good for phone numbers. Bad for memorizing passwords. App does not disable auto-correct when testing you (so autocorrect memorizes the password and later suggests it. Huge security flaw, plus you dont memorize it. ) Bad for account numbers and things with text where case does not matter. (App treats all things to be memorized as case sensitive).

Good app but…

This is definitely a good, solid app and it does help remember stuff. Im really glad I stumbled across it. But I do hope to see some enhancements soon. The app doesnt seem to have improved much over the past year, besides Apple Watch support. First, I wish the app took full advantage of the large screen size of the iPhone 6 Plus, especially with the modal-style popup prompts. Plus, when those prompts appear, voiceover doesnt read the question first, it still reads the list of tests underneath the modal popup prompt. Perhaps the best solution would be to have the option for tests to be taken in their own full screen view. My answers are usually quite long and need a lot of space. It would also be cool to have an option/setting to enable the question to be read aloud by Siri, just as the answer can currently be read aloud when you fail a test and hit the "Learn" button. I also dont like how the test prompt phrases questions. Tests prompt you with this question: "Can you remember what [test title] is?" However, I use actual questions as my test titles and I only want to see my questions (the test title) as the question when Im taking the test. Seeing it ask two nested questions is highly distracting/confusing, and annoying. Perhaps this can simply be added as an option/setting in the preferences, such as an on/off switch asking "Phrase test prompts in the form of a question?" which I would switch to off. I also wish there were an option/setting in the preferences to space out the duration between scheduled tests by some customizable minimum number of minutes between questions/tests. I often load up a ton of questions set to cram mode (I have paid for the full upgrade to unlock unlimited tests), but what happens in such cases is I end up having to take several tests at once because they arent spaced out enough to allow a mental break between each question/test. Sometimes I just have to purposely fail some of the tests just to get a break, annoying. I would like to space out questions/tests anywhere from 2 to 12 minutes apart. I know that doesnt necessarily follow the "cram" schedule, but I dont mind. It would also be nice to have a schedule mode that is between "cram" (1-day) and "normal" (2-week). Ideally, this mode would be 1-week. Finally, I would like to have a "nag" mode option/setting in the preferences that will continue to send me notifications for questions/tests that havent been touched since they were last scheduled. I often get sidetracked, and if a bunch of tests pile up and I cannot attend to them immediately, I never receive another notification after the notification is sent for the last active test. Sometimes I wont remember that Im supposed to be cramming until a few hours go by because Im busy doing other things while studying. So a "nag" mode would be immensely helpful. Perhaps it could also have an option/setting to customize the number of minutes between subsequent nagging notifications. Another option is to replace one of the alert prompt style notification options (yes, test, test me, etc) with a snooze. The alert prompt style notifications arent a default notification style for the app, but I use them. Though I dont always see them, as sometimes the notifications come through when Im not actively using the phone (screen is off), in which case I only see the two lock screen notification options (yes, test). Just a though. But nag mode would be best if I had to choose between snooze and nag mode.

Good just not there yet!

I have real issue with my memory and have had all my life. This is great tool for remembering small details like lines of computer code or your favorite quote. Where i find it lacking is when you need to sync across devices it does not seem to have a clear option. I have able to sync some facts just not all, but in not sure how i did them. I like what this app is doing and i will continue to use it.

Too automated

I excitedly downloaded this app because it looked similar to Lumosity, which is just fabulous. It works alright for input, but trying to remember anything without repeating the exact same space, dots and dashes makes the app refuse to go on. You are deemed wrong, even if you got the words correct. App wont proceed except you override, or reproduce the same thing as input. For someone who is studying for exams , I repeat from understanding and memory, not from automated stereotyped sheets. Didetic is good, but if you are not looking to repeat verbatim, it can be frustrating. 2 stars.

The best learning app Ive used

By far the best learning app that Ive used. Enter in the questions, get quizzed periodically throughout the day when your minds off the subject. Test to see if you really remember the material! If you forget something, the app helps you learn it again by giving you the option to write it out as many times as you want, and will even speak your answer out loud for you! I used this app to memorize the names of all of the B vitamins and your app helped me shave a lot of time off of my studying! Thanks!

Work on the Apple Watch app!!

I would love to use this app more but the Apple Watch app is kind of useless. I would add a step after showing the question that will show the answer before you input whether you know the answer or not. Instant 5 star review if this is implemented.

Great way to remember

I use this for quotes I am trying to memorize. Works great. If I set it on the longest setting, I never forget them when Im done.
